The Kansas Smitty's House band
The Kansas Smitty’s House Band sprang from the need of a young, innovative group of jazz musicians to have a home in which to craft their collective sound. When Smitty’s eight members get together, they play with unmasked joy on both original and classic material. Their inspiration combines a love for the tight, complex swing arrangements of Basie, Fletcher Henderson and Sidney Bechet with an ear for contemporary sounds.
2014 saw Giacomo Smith, one of the band's leaders joined the City Music Foundation Artist Programme, a national radio play on BBC Radio 2, a string of sold out shows across some of London’s best venues like Ronnie Scotts, Shoreditch House, Dead Dolls Club, the Vortex & The Vaults. It also saw the release of the House Band’s debut 7-inch single. A full-length album is chalked to be released this year. Listen here: www.kansassmittys.com
